The folks in the neighborhood of Lincoln Academy (the school where I work) seem to enjoy painting from a funky color palette. This outrageous purple gate is cornerwise across the street from the pink house with the lavender fence and the green hose.

It's always fun to see cheerful, pretty colors on and around people's homes...and to wonder what made a person decide to paint a gate or house or whatever, that particular color.
I like it! Besides - it makes it easy to give directions - "come to my house - it's the one with the purple gate."
